Black Down - Sussex
See Alan's comments on this walk below. Sussex – Black Down. Wednesday 1st Sept Standing at 280 metres tall Black Down is the highest hill in Sussex and became the first venture on the fifth day of Alan’s challenge. The hill is remarkably beautiful and sees its slopes covered in pine trees. It also can lay claim to literature grandeur, as Lord Tennyson once had a house here. There are superb views over the Weald at the southern end of the hill. An early morning walk saw Alan take a round trip of 30 minutes to the top. You might want to take longer – especially if it is blackberry season! Powered by Lifestream.
