ThuHerefordshire – Black Mountain. rsday 2nd Sept

Alan’s last walk on day six saw him heading back west and to Herefordshire. The Black Mountain at 703 metres is the highest top in the county and falls on the border between England and Wales. The Offa’s Dyke Path, one of Britain’s premier long distant walking trails passes along the Black Mountain. A steeper climb to the summit can also be taken close to the old youth hostel. Alan was joined by James from the local Mountain Rescue team for this walk, so was able to get local knowledge on the best way up. It was the first time Alan had climbed this particular mountain.
