Staffordshire – Cheeks Hill. Friday 3rd Sept

It’s over to Staffordshire for Alan’s 34th high point. Close to Buxton and on the border with Derbyshire, is Cheeks Hill, the highest point in Staffordshire at 520 metres. The peaks in this region offer an abundance of walking opportunities, so rather than walking up the one hill, it could be fun to stretch your legs and have a go at a four hour or so trail. The Cat and Fiddle pub on the A54 will provide liquid refreshment after any long bouts of exercise!

In Alan’s case there was a need for speed and the mission was to get to the top of Cheeks Hill and back as quickly as possible. The moorland was slightly boggy, but after years of climbing mountains Alan has definitely encountered worse terrain and conditions.
