Devon – High Willhays. Wednesday 1st Sept

With lots of smaller tops under his belt, Alan’s next task was something a bit bigger. The High Willhays or also known as the Roof of Devon stands at 621 metres. It is not only Dartmoor’s highest peak, but it is also the highest peak in England and Wales south of the Brecon Beacons. Like Alan, you would be best starting at the Meldon Reservoir and winding your way up the West Okement River, before climbing to the county’s highest point. The untracked moorland makes it a great place to explore. It’s worth noting though that the Military do use the area for training, so sometimes the area may be closed to the public.
