Derbyshire – Kinder Scout. Saturday 4th September

After a lovely night spent in Hayfield Alan’s next high top is one of the big ones! Kinder Scout stands at 636 metres and is not only the highest point in Derbyshire, but the highest mountain in the Peak District. Kinder Scout can be quite menacing if the weather is nasty and the ground becomes boggy, but thankfully the gods were smiling on Alan. A lovely sunny morning meant a morning climb from Hayfield was extremely enjoyable. Alan also had company on this climb as several volunteers from Kinder Mountain Rescue Team joined him for the walk.

Alan says: “It was great to be joined again by Mountain Rescue. I hope by doing this challenge I am helping to make more people aware of the vital service they provide.”
