Scafell Pike - Cumberland
See Alan's comments on this walk below. Scafell Pike – Cumberland. Saturday 4th September So, it’s off to the Lake District for the final part of the challenge. And something very special was to happen. With three county tops still remaining Alan was given a little assistance to complete the Pro-Trek challenge in 8 days! Mark Weir, Chief Executive of Honistor Slate Mine, heard of the Pro-Trek challenge and decided to help. That help came in the shape of his helicopter. So, rather than climbing Alan flew to the summits of Scafell Pike (Cumberland), Old Man of Coniston (Lancashire), and Helvellyn (Westmoreland). If, unlike Alan, you don’t have access to a helicopter then of course you can still climb the 978 metres of Scafell Pike. The most popular way to climb the peak is from Wasdale Head and it is a steep, but straightforward walk. Powered by Lifestream.
It certainly was a spectacular end to an exhilarating challenge. 8 days and 39 county tops completed – what an effort.
